Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has kept me gripped for the most of its thirty hour long playthrough until the credits finally rolled. I deliberately wrote “for the most”, because it came out to be a rather imperfect experience, with very steep ups and very low dips. And no, I’m not only referring to the stuttering framerate, which was abysmal at date of release, but also to the story, which sometimes tended very close to being absent.
A tad too much of my time in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was spent on observing Cal while he was hanging, climbing, jumping, double jumping, dashing from one ledge or object to another. With boredom lurking around the corner, I must admit that there were moments where I was relieved to discover a Mediation Point so I could save the game. Just to be able to quit it immediately, without losing any progress and having to do that tedious stuff all over again.
But now I’ve finally managed to finish the game, I will still recommend it without a doubt to anyone who has already enjoyed the prequel. After all, without spoiling much except from the pics, the last 10 hours, including the ending, really started to deliver. Just as raw, emotional, intense and epic as I expected the whole game to be. It leaves me with the longing to play the conclusion of this trilogy. At least that is what I’m currently anticipating, when contemplating the third installment.
